Getting to know Lucey Lu

Lucey slept between Ron and I last night. Lucey has never slept alone in her life. She used to sleep with her foster parents. She slept with Ron in China.

We didn't get up until 8:00 this morning. It was so nice to sleep in. Lucey was leery of me in the morning. She snuggled into Ron and would not smile or let me touch her. I played a few games with her and it wasn't long and I had her reaching out to me.

She is very sweet in the morning and very patient. She ate a very good breakfast--banana, whole grain muffin and whole grain cooked cereal. She loves her highchair. It was made for my boys by her Papa.

So here is a snapshot of our day:

She's pointing at Max, our miniature schnauzer that she is frightened of.

Andrew was helping with her lunch. Thank you Andrew!

Lucey learned to use a straw today. She loved the D@nimal!

Lucey did well in her car seat. Christian sat next to her and read to her. We are off to sign Lucey onto our insurance company.

This girl loves the stroller. She didn't want to get out.

Lucey got a lot of attention today. Christian is taking her somewhere.

Adam went to school today...can you believe that? It was his idea. He was tired but wanted to go see his friends and check in with his teachers. He got out of the shower this evening and Lucey reached for him to hold her. She loves Adam!

Lucey was "wrestling" with Daddy in a sort of girly kind of way. We got a kick out of that!

Having a snuggle, a bottle and a bit of gymnastics all at the same time.

Do you know where Lucey is right now--she's in her crib! Yep-- I'm typing this from my bed, not too far from Lucey's room. She has been in her crib for about 2 1/2 hours. She has cried several times but worked it out herself in seconds. I am praying she will love her crib. It's so cozy and sweet in her room and I hope she feels comfort there. I'll let you know tomorrow how she did.

  1. So glad you are all together as a family! The pictures are just great, and I can tell you that within a few days, you will be as dearly loved as her daddy. When we adopted our second daughter, we had the same situation of my husband and one of our boys traveling. There will always be a special spot for that particular brother, but that's pretty special too! As for the dog, it won't be long. We have a really BIG dog, and within days, Abby was walking right up to her.

  2. Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl! We came home in August with our littlest daughter, she is also from Fuzhou. She has been amazing as well...as you know the sleep thing was rough at first, because she too slept with her foster parents. But after a couple of months we were able to get her in her own crib, and then her own room.
So happy for you and your family.
