Another Day in Guangzhou

Journal Entry 8: Thursday 5 March 09

Hello everyone!

Sorry I haven't written in a while. I have relied on Beth for the blog site words while I focused on picture and video transfer. Today is Lucey's Visa Ceremony! Here is a quick snapshot of the last few days.
28 FEB We flew to Guangzhou to get settled in the Hotel and did a little shopping.
1 MAR We visited the Guangzhou Zoo which was very nice. We did some additional shopping as well.
2 MAR Lucey had her Medical Check Up today. She did great and didn't cry much after 5 shots.
3 MAR We had free time today so we visited the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. Sun Yat-Sen is credited with freeing China from the harsh Chang Dynasty. He is also considered the first Pseudo-Christian Leader.
4 MAR Lucey gave me my first kiss on the cheek today! Adam spent the day with the Reames Family shopping at the Toy and Electronic Market. Lucey and I spent the day just having Daddy & Daughter time. We did a fantastic boat cruise on the Pearl River. It was lit up with colorful sky-scrapers the entire way.
5 MAR Visa day today! We also begin packing today for our journey home. We leave tomorrow morning for Hong Kong. After a day and a half in Hong Kong we fly back to the U.S.

Lucey has learned a lot over the last week.
1. She knows eyes, nose, ear, chin and mouth.
2. She knows how to blow kisses
3. She knows how to kiss on the cheek.
4. She knows to take a drink out of a glass when requested.
5. She knows how to eat with a fork and spoon.

Christian Church on Shamian Island. It's so pretty and bright.

Where's Lucey Lu?

Peek-A-Boo! Smiling in God's house.

The Guys linked up with our friends in Guangzhou...these handsome kids belong to Michelle and Doug. I heard everyone had a great time on the river boat cruise...cruising down the Pearl River.

Adam and Amber...waiting to be served.

Lucey says, "Would you like to dance?"

Adam says, "Of course Lucey--I'd love to!"

Out on the deck.

Lucey and Daddy enjoying the lights of Guangzhou.

Another new experience for Lucey and she is having so much fun.

I caught this picture on Skype--Lucey is giving Ron a kiss on the cheek. Oh, it melted my heart. I can't wait for the day until she gives me one. :-)
They will be home in 4 more days. They are packing and getting ready for the train ride to Hong Kong tomorrow.

  1. Oh how sweet! How awesome that she's already learning so much. How old is she?
I'm so happy to see the church! And I'd love to hear more about the River boat cruise. Our little one is in Guangdong Pr. so I think we will spend our entire trip there. I would love advice on things and places to experience there.

  2. Hi Joy--

I was sharing with Ron how we happened to find each other...first of all, we are moving to Ft. Leavenworth--so maybe not too far from you? Lucey is 21 months. She is understanding our language very well. I would love to share more about their trip. Ron and Adam said there is so much to do in Guangzhou. They have loved their time there. I think they exhausted Fuzhou pretty quick. The hotel is beautiful. Tell me again when you think you may be traveling.

    Have a great day Joy--
    Beth
